Situated on 15 hectares of lush, forested hillside overlooking the Umfolozi river flats and overlooking a private game reserve, Umfolozi River Lodge is the ideal getaway for both the businessman and family alike. Centrally located, with the St Lucia iSimangaliso Wetland park, world renowned Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve and Mapelane beach all within 30 minutes drive, this is an ideal base from which to explore the best that Zululand has to offer. The lodge is approximately 50 kilometres from the Richard’s Bay airport and just off the N2 highway, near Mtubatuba.

Amble through our bird park with an assortment of over 50 colourful, feathered friends or sit on the deck overlooking a large Koi pond, while a peacock attempts to jump on your table.  Let your children feed the rabbits or take a slow stroll to view our ponies.

For the more adventurous a walking trail along the Msunduzi river can help you fill your lungs with fresh air, with paths passing through litchi, pecan and macadamia nut trees. Bring your mountain bike to add speed to the trail or ride in the near by private game reserve. We are also Quad bike friendly, and have an experienced rider available by appointment to take you along various tracks.

Allow our forty years of local experience help you to plan a fun filled day or merely lounge by the pool with the kids enjoying the Zululand sunshine.

We can also take our guests on request to the local shipwreck the Jolly Rabino, where you can experience breakfast or lunch on the beach.

Bring along your fishing rods and enjoy a day trying your luck while the wife basks in the sun and the kid splash in the waves on our unspoilt coastline.

We have a snake park which is progressively taking shape and soon will be ready for guests to enjoy.

A conference centre is being built and will be available towards the end of the year. Keep us in mind for weddings and conferences at reasonable rates in the heart of Zululand.
